As far as I know, H4's are allowed to do 'voluntary non-paying work' in the US and are not allowed to compete for jobs in the US. In my opinion, if you are working for an indian company and getting paid in Indian currency without hurting the US job market, it should be OK. An excellent point was made earlier about home maintenance activities and baby care activities that are also part of broader terminology of 'work' and 'job'.

I just got my H1 visa and thanks so much for your help. I really appreciate that. I now actually got some questions about the port of entry. As my understanding that they will stamp my passport at the port of entry, I wonder if they will keep my current I-797 at the port of entry (I already have the H1 stamp in my passport). Pls advise. Also, I don�t have the bottom portion of the I-94 on I-797 since I am currently in Malaysia . Would this be a problem? Please also advise if they will issue me the new I-94 at the port of entry. Anybody pls help. Thank you very much.

Can I apply for H1 B extension on my own or does it have to go through an immigrtion attorney?
I will be applying for 7th yr H1 based on an ongoing GC process. I 140 approved . I 485 pending.
Is this process any different from normal H1B application ( the first 6 years)

I am contacting them and will march with them. If undocumented get a bill, our bill will come automatically. We should be supporting them. If we support them they will also support us. With their support we can get our bill. If we try to do a rally for ourselves the so called educated people on H1B and EAD will not come. They will rather spend time driving in their nice car to Disney or eat out in a fancy restaurant. So I believe we need to side with undocumented and help them to help ourselves.

you may not get much ifnormation from Infopass - you can go for infopass for issues like FP or Name check status or similar things.
Well Don't don't assume that "pre adjudicated" means everything with the case is over and the ONLY factor is visa number unavailability.
Pre adjudicated means - things are fine as of now.

My wife when she went to india did the same. Means Submitted all the i-94 including the one which was with the 797.
While returning from india she did not get the i-94 upto the 797 approval date, she got it upto the Visa expiry date.
When i went to the Border Security Officer mentioned that the i-94 which you receive with 797 is for your reference, you are not supposed to give it to anybody.
I had to apply for the extension because i did't have any proof with me for my wife on the i-94.

Backside of checks are generally Messy - I understand your Problem. I faced this Problem during my H1B because the receipt was Lost in Mail.
Call USCIS and tell Level1 operator that you are 100% sure that your checks are encashed but its Unreadable. Please connect me to Level2 so that i can confirm the details by FN,LN,DOB .

Last week my wife's I-485 got an RFE on Medical Examination and Photos. Why is that only my wife got it and not me the primary applicant? Any thoughts. I have read some time ago that if the Medical examinations are 1 year older at the time of application processing they would request for a new one, is that still true?

since you are going to be an entrepreneur on EAD, your circumstances are kind of special (i.e. a GC or citizen entrepreneur doesn't have the extra baggage we carry). so u can join your state chapter in addition to the SBA.

Labour Priority date is Nov'20 2007
My I-140 receipt date is Feb'20 2008..
My I-140 Approve date is Sep'24 2008
My 6 years H-1 will be completed by Jan'2010..but still my H-1 was denied..
Don't see any reason why you would be denied. You will have to wait for the denial letter.

nothing to worry about, it happened to me too,
I opened an SR and two weeks later my wife got FP and I didn't, I thought I'll wait for a week or two but in vain. When I gave a follow-up call I came to know that FP was scheduled at my Attorney's place (I live in west coast and I was scheduled to attend FP at ASC in East coast) and the twist is my attorney never received it.on top of it when I asked the Rep about possibility of scheduling an FP at my place she advised me to file AR-11 form, at this point it was very clear to me that Rep doesn't have a clue on what she is talking about. the very next day I was luck to get hold of nice rep who said I quote
" I don't understand why these people schedule FP at attorney�s location"
he apologized and said he will open an SR to reschedule at my location and he assured me that this time it will be at my location, which I got in couple of weeks.
Hope you will get your FP notice soon.

IV in good faith shared there plan about 485 provision with everybody. And it backfired spectacularly, though for no fault of IV. There were (and still are) a lot of bad apples who made a lot of noise not just here but also went on to other sites to carry there agenda. There agenda is to oppose 485. I am not against idea of opposite point of view but look at the extent these people went to push there agenda. They are calling IV all sorts of names and casting aspirations on IV team.
I personally support the filing of 485 provision. But whatever decision IV has about 485 issues may be it is better of that they not disclose it. Hind sight is 20-20 but it might have been better if IV pushed this idea without informing everybody.
I am not second guessing or doing Monday night quarterbacking but just saying with the lessons learned going forward not to disclose information. Democracy does not mean leadership has to run by each decision or explain each decision to everybody. IV is stuck between the devil and deep sea. Damned if the disclose damned if they do not disclose. Bottom line of what I am trying to say is we should get used to information blackouts. We are not getting any information but the important thing is our opposition is also not getting information about IV plans. It might be better that way. Now the difficult part is explaining that to people who want updates.

As stated in my previous post my PD is current as I have an I140 approved under EB1-OR.
Is your PD current? Can you post details just wondering in case your PD is not current is USCIS still working on your case and preparing for future.
